Halte-jeux

The Halte-jeux is an occasional childcare centre for all children from 15 months to school age. This type of childcare is primarily intended for parents who do not need permanent day care for their children.

An online procedure enables you to enrol your child for a form of childcare.

Parents are invited to visit the BIPE offices located at 8 rue du Cendrier, Tuesdays from 8.30 a.m. to midday and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., by appointment via Agenda.ch. Families can also contact the Early Childhood Information Office via the hotline on 022 418 81 81, from 10 a.m. to midday, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, or by e-mail: @email.

The Halte-jeux is primarily intended for parents who do not need permanent day care for their children. It is an occasional day care solution.

Age of the children accepted 

Children between 15 months and school age are welcome to visit the Halte-jeux.

Opening times

The Halte-jeux is open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Attendance

Children can stay at the Halte-jeux for a period of 3 hours. Attendance is limited to 3 days per week. It is reserved for children living in the City of Geneva.

Rates

At the Halte-jeux, a one-hour stay is billed CHF 4, with a charge of CHF 2 per half-hour. A subscription for 10 hours is available at a cost of CHF 40.

Educational activities

During opening hours, the educators organise a wide range of educational activities adapted to the age of each child. These different activities are designed to encourage the healthy development of the children present. Here are a few examples:

  • creative activities;
  • musical activities;
  • movement activities;
  • meetings (fun stimulation events, songs, stories, etc.);
  • free play.

Meals or snacks

The Halte-jeux provides no meals. Parents can nevertheless bring lunch for their children.

Period of adaptation

Adaptation is a period of integration implemented in collaboration with the parents. It is a fundamental step which serves to reassure children by gradually ensuring they become accustomed to separation and creating a mutual relation of trust. The duration of this period shall be defined according to the child’s needs.
